Power transmission & switchgear

Two opposite skill sets, one workshop

Switchgear and transmission assemblies need two things that usually sit in different factories: precision conductive parts and heavy load-bearing steel structures. We do both on one site, and we have supplied Hapam in the Netherlands on a long-term basis.

What we make

Component groups

  • Tin-plated copper partsConductive components machined and plated to drawing
  • Flexible braided copper connectorsFor expansion and vibration take-up in busbar systems
  • HV cable clamps and cleatsIncluding SUS316L for substations and coastal or offshore installations
  • Isolator and disconnector assembliesMachined shafts, bushings and linkages — IT5–IT6, Ra 0.16–0.32 µm
  • Precision steel parts for switchgearHole position tolerance under 0.02 mm
  • Steel structures and enclosuresWelded to ISO 3834, hot-dip galvanised for outdoor substation service
Copper — read this before you enquire

How we machine conductive copper

MaterialLaser cuttingHow we make it
BrassYesCNC laser cut — stable cut, clean edge, no burr
Pure copperNoTurned, milled or stamped depending on geometry
Pure copper cannot be laser cut by anyone. Its reflectivity sends the beam back into the cutting head. Conductive parts in this industry — busbars, contacts, terminals — are almost always pure copper precisely because conductivity is the point, so this limit decides the whole process route. We say it here rather than discovering it after quoting.
Outdoor service

What kills substation hardware

Corrosion at the fasteningClamps and brackets fail at the joint long before the structure does. For coastal and offshore sites we use SUS316L; for inland steel structures, hot-dip galvanising — the most durable finish for equipment nobody services regularly
Contact resistanceSurface finish and plating quality on conductive parts decide joint temperature over the life of the installation, not at commissioning
Fit tolerance in linkagesIsolator mechanisms must still move after years outdoors. Shafts and bushings are turned to IT5–IT6, not cut to fit
Documentation

What ships with the parts

  • Mill test certificate per heat lotTraceable to the material in your parts
  • Dimensional inspection reportMeasured against your drawing, per batch
  • Weld inspection recordsVT, UT and MT on structural work, to ISO 5817
  • Surface treatment recordPlating, coating system or galvanising thickness

Typical customs classification for this group falls under HS 8538.90 and HS 7326.90; the final code depends on material and function and we confirm it per order.

If you are qualifying a second source in Southeast Asia, the practical test is a small order of a part you already buy. You get a direct comparison on price, lead time and documentation, and we get to prove it rather than claim it.
